One roof, one quality system
Most optical assemblies are assembled from three or four suppliers: one polishes the substrate, another coats it, a third machines the housing, and the integrator discovers at final test that the tolerances were never negotiated between them. SPEKTON exists to remove those handovers. Flat optics manufacturing, thin-film coating, metal additive manufacturing, metrology and cleanroom assembly all run under a single certified quality system.
That matters most where the aperture and the structure behind it have to be designed together. An infrared window is only as stable as the housing that holds it, and a housing is only useful if its coefficient of thermal expansion was chosen against the substrate it carries.
What the numbers mean
Flat optics are manufactured to 500 mm in diameter, to ISO 10110, at sub-micron TTV and nanometre-level surface roughness. Coatings run from the visible through LWIR with ion-assisted deposition and a full spectral curve recorded per batch. The laser powder bed fusion chamber measures 800 × 800 × 1500 mm, the largest LPBF volume in the EMEA region, which is what allows a gimbal chassis to be built as one piece instead of bolted from several.
Verification is not sampled. An 18 inch wide-aperture interferometer and a 20 inch optical profilometer measure the full clear aperture, and printed geometry is checked dimensionally on a CMM. Assemblies ship with the measurement record attached.
Who we build for
Defense and aerospace primes, semiconductor equipment builders, laser system integrators and industrial instrument makers. The common thread is that the optic is not the product: it is a component inside something that has to qualify, and a late optical failure costs far more than the optic did.
Quality management operates under AS9100 and NADCAP, with ISO 10110 governing optical drawings and MIL-SPEC governing environmental durability. Environmental and occupational health systems are certified to ISO 14001:2015, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001.
